Im having a hard time getting my wiring to fit back into my frame after putting on some new risers and bars. Does it go back into the top or bottom part of the frame under the plastic cover? Is it possible to put back in correctly without removing the tank? My 2015 fxdl has a cross over tube so its hard to get my hand in there. The idea i had was to bundle each side handlebar harnes and hold it bundled with a ziptie, then tuck it and push it into the lower part of the backbone along with the headlight harness. Then leave the 2 guage harnesses in the upper frame.
I found the removing the seat, removing the 2 tank bolts, sliding the tank down the frame towards the seat area a few inches (you may have to disconnect the fuel line from the tank to the engine) gave me much better access to the area of the underside of the frame. I popped out the plastic shield and pulled the wiring through the frame/wire holes with the rubber grommets, into the cavity from the underside.
I've futzed with the wiring a few times now and found this was the easiest method I've come across. The big thing was sliding the tank down the frame a few inches. This allowed much better access to the underside of the wiring cavity.
I had to take the tank off to do this right. I couldn't get all the wiring back into position properly until I did that. It's not hard and worth the time.
