OK I ordered the Burley Bars today and started working on taking off my original risers and bars.
Left side was no problem pulled about 7 inches of wiring out of the frame and found connector. unpluged it and fished the harnes out of the bars.
Now for the right side, pulled 7 inches of harness out and no connector.
? IS there a connector located in the frame for the right side harness? Or do I have to take something apart to get the whole harness out?
Depending on what is involved I just might splice a bosch connector in there and save me the headache of taking more apart on my bike.
OK sounds good. Thanks for the help.
If I have to pull the tank do I have to replace the fuel hose clamp? More parts. Dont mind to do the work, I just dont want to scratch the paint. Looks like IM going to buy a whole bunch of masking tape.

Yes, if you remove the clamps from the cross over line.
There should be a white connector, and a black connector. The hardest thing is putting the wires back in to the connector.. PITA for me untill I found me some small surgical clamps.

Man I wish I hadda thought of the surgical clamps when I was doing this 5 days ago. That is the hardest part of the whole gig. Just put 14" road6customs on my 09 Sb and they look and ride great! I took the rubber grommets off of the neck to help run the wires back up into the bike frame which made it much easier to manage. Didnt have any problems getting them back on either. I also drew diagrams of where each wire went and took some pics, but then I notice the same color scheme is on the receiving connector so I didn't even need all that stuff when i was putting it all back together. (Just good for back plan)

LOL yep!! Road6 14" Z's for me as well! Love em! I was trying everything i could think of to get the little pins to stay in place, pull through, etc.. Took the connector apart a dozen times seems like trying to get them to go in. Finnaly i dug around in my sons R/C pit bag and found the clamps.. BINGO!! worked like a charm! I guess that needs to be introduced where ever the topic is.. will save someone a huge headache!
I also ran the wire loom through as well with the help of the curved clamps.
You don't need to take the tank completely off.... just unbolt it front and rear and slide it backwards. Be careful on the left side, you can bugger the wiring for the gas gauge, if you just haul it backwards. But sliding back gives you plenty of room to access the panel under the backbone....
I just put 14" Burly narrow glides on mine. Do what you want but I took my tank off so I wouldn't scratch it. Have heard from a couple of guys who tried sliding it back and scratched their tanks. I guess it really depends how careful you are. jss1375snow and SC-Longhair helped me a ton. Plenty of guys on this site who are happy to help. Good luck.
