I have a 06 lowrider and the needle on the Speedo just starts climbing on its own until it points down. Reset it by turning the key to the acc position and then does the same thing. Everything else works fine. Replaced the sensor and does the same thing. The idle goes up and down a bit. Anybody have any ideas ?

Yes I have, but the speedo was not working prior to the tune.
This has become a bit of an obsession now and I have been digging around some what.
I basically want to keep my speedo that has my mileage on it. Firstly because here in the UK we have to have a road test once a year and it gets recorded.
And secondly I like my nostalgic speedo and like the fact I have 120,000 on it!
Now, I have my stock speedo that I took off at delivery, so I installed it and it worked!!
So, I thought there must be a fault with the nostalgic one. Let me see if I can fix it. Its broken anyway so...can't make it any worse!
I searched online with regards to opening up the speedo and found the relevant videos on youtube. Once in, I handed the PCB to and electronics colleague at work. He took a quick look and honed in on the speedo stepper motor. This is a small electronic motor that the actual speedo needle is attached to.
After much reading online, it would appear that up until 2006/7 the stepper motor used in the Harley speedos was prone to failure. This has had 2/3 revisions since then and is replaceable.
Now, I have yet to find and fit the replacement stepper motor, to verify that this is the cause of said issue but for the price of the motor its worth a gamble!
