2002 FXD shutting off
While riding my 02 dyna fxd superglide over the weekend, it decided too shut off while going 40mph. all electrical stayed on, the engine just cut out, no sign of losing power at all, just simply shut down. I tried re starting and it would only turn over, not even attempt too start. Behind the carburetor theirs a vacuum hose that is maybe 1-2" long, and it goes from the top of the carb too a plastic T, which splits off into 2 other hoses. I noticed the 1-2" vacuum hose was cracked and split at the top, making it a loose connection at the T. I pushed the hose back onto the T, even tho it still was a very loose fitting, it fired right up after that and i was able too ride back home. Ive had the bike die on me once before and take 1 min to re start, however that was right after i washed it, so i knew water got somewhere it shouldnt have. I have not washed it in a few weeks so i know thats not the cause this time. Could the cracked and loose hose be the reason the bike randomly shut down?

I had that problem with my 02 wg and believe it was because it was too lean and heating. I went one jet higher on the main jet and that ended the shutting off problem. Not positive but it hasn't done it since. Btw- if it happens again, pull in the clutch, turn off the main switch, switch back on and let out the clutch, should fire right back up-- mine did
