Seems like every time I turn around I see another black bike. Not paint but black motor covers, handlebars, exhaust everything! Now Im not hating on black bikes. I like a well put together bike but what happened to chroming everything you could? Is there anyone that still likes the shinny stuff?
All black on a rat bike is one thing. Going all out to blacken a new bike isn't the same thing. There should be a balance between the chrome, black parts and paint on the sheet metal.
I too like a balance of chrome and paint. Totally blacked out bikes look like someone's kid found a rattle can and decided to paint their bicycle themselves.
Or like the owner couldn't afford chrome. I know lots of people on here spend big money covering up the chrome with powder coating but don't get it. It's much easier to keep chrome clean than black.
Even harley is doing it from the factory with wrinkle black motor covers. My local dealer had a screaming eagle street glide with gloss black primary, cam, and Trans covers and it didn't look bad but it wasn't too long ago that screaming eagle edition stuff better be packed with chrome
I like both. Right now I'm blacking out my fat bob, but I could see myself chroming out my next bike. It's all about the fun of doing it. My biggest issue with stock equipment is that I want to DO STUFF. Riding is great, but I also love tinkering.
