I remember having a collapsed lifter in a car and it surely sounds like metal to metal rap. After the oil warms to operating temp. the lifter can't hold pressure.
Took it to the dealer and found nothing wrong....
An old fart came in and said to take the windshield off.
Problem went away........
yepper, that "junk" Harley synthetic oil caused your windshield vibration to sound like it was coming from your engine...

Use whatever oil you are comfortable with that is rated for your bike...it ain't no better than HD synthetic but it will do just fine for the long haul...and ride on!
