Default HELP! Clutch cable replacement issue

Ok, I don't get it. I've followed the manual and even watched some videos. Upgraded to the 12" burly apes. What a task it's been. Finally the last part replacing the clutch cable I'm so lost as to why when I have it all fitted back together at the trans cover and I re install, when I pull the clutch cable it does not pull all the way, almost like something in there is hitting or binding up. Everything is back together correctly but the cable will only pull out maybe a half inch and bam like it hits a wall. I have it adjusted so it has as much slack as it can get and its all together correctly. I'm wondering if I did something when I took it off because the gear/wheel that assembly looks to push up against when the cable is pulled was bumped into and caught on my glove when I took it off and pulled it out maybe 5 inches but I pushed it back in and it still moves in and out fine and spins but it's like when I pull the cable the assembly hits that wheel and stops, I don't get it. Btw, first time I've done this so I feel pretty stupid asking because everything else has gone fine. 2004 Dyna Low Rider.

Check that you installed the ball ramp and ball bearings correctly. If one of the ***** is not in it's groove it can hang up and prevent the ramp from operating fully. Check that you have the proper cable. There are different "travel lengths" for the same length cables.(https://www.magnumshielding.com/clutch-cables) If the travel length is too short, it will not be able to rotate the ball assembly to it's full travel. You must do a proper clutch adjustment behind the Derby cover before trying to operate the clutch. Another thing to check is that you have routed the cable properly and that there are no kinks in it and insure it operates smoothly when not connected to the clutch assembly. I had the same problem when I replaced my cable and found that the clutch needed to be adjusted properly. Good luck!

Pop your derby cover and loosen the lock nut. Turn clockwise to ramp seats. You gain your slack. Get the clutch ferrul in. Readjust clutch friction and then adjust cable slack back to 1/16"-1/8".
