Just took the girl for a short jaunt. 30 miles. Nothing big. Stopped for gas before coming home. Shut her off at the pump. Filled up. Flipped the switch and it wouldn't start. All the lights came on like normal, the red dot went out like normal, but when I tried to start it, nothing. I turned everything off and waited for about 10 sec and tried again. All lights came on and this time the red dot didn't go out. That's never happened before. I shut everything down again and waited another ten sec. Then it fired right up. Let it run for about a min then shut it off again. Tried to start it and it fired right up again. Problem solved??? Not really sure since I didn't do anything that I don't normally do. 2300 miles on it. Had it about two months or so. Anybody ever have this happen before??
Also, I rode without earplugs today (something I don't normally do) and noticed that every time I hit around 2000 RPM there is an engine rattle. it sounds like someone is taking a pen and tapping the inside of an empty Beefaroni can. Never noticed this before on any bile I've ridden but again, I usually have earplugs in. Is this something I should be worried about??
Just went out to the garage and started it right up. No delay, no hesitation. Shut it off and did it again. No problems. Weird.
When it failed to start, was the starter turning the engine over or was there silence? If it was silent, might be a defective relay. If it was turning, might be vapor lock, pretty rare these days, but still possible.
