Default Why does Low Rider not come with ABS brakes?

My dealer always orders from HD such that the only models that they carry with ABS brakes are the ones that come standard with them. Why does a relatively big bike like the Dyna Low Rider not come with ABS brakes standard? I would think that anyone would want ABS on a bike like this?

I ordered my Low Rider without abs. Dual discs it's not needed IMO.

I got abs on my WG, first bike with abs, and I really like it. After watching videos about abs vs standard brakes it sold me. I'm sure they could order the abs model for you. If not try another dealer.

ABS gives less control over the bike when the rider is more experienced. Also, it is something else to break.

ABS has nothing to do with stopping ability in a controlled environment and everything to do with panic stops in wet or sandy environments. Your natural tendency to grab a handful of brake in a panic stop will inevitably lead to locking them up which means you just lost all ability to steer as well as renders you to nothing more than a passenger on a runaway bike.
You may not like or want ABS, and that is your right, but ain't no denying that ABS WILL save your ars eventually if you ride enough miles especially in the rain. It has nothing to do with experience level. It's technology that is just plain good and safer.

Ross, Valentin Rossi, is that you? Didn't think so. ABS is better for everyone except the top riders in the world. The rest of us schmucks can benefit.

Some riders need ABS. You don't need to wear #46 either. ABS makes for l o n g e r stops.

Wait a minute, let me rewrite that for you.

ABS makes for L O N G E R stops.

ABS makes for longer stops if you are skilled enough to consistently threshold brake in emergency situations in all sorts of conditions, including ones where available traction changes with every foot you travel. On a track is one thing. In the real world, very, very few riders are skilled enough to do that.

OP, some people simply prefer not to have it. I like it as a safety net in case I **** up, but it does not replace proper braking skills.

In the EXACT same way that Automatics are faster than Manual Transmissions- some people prefer a little more control. I will never say that ABS isn't very useful, I just don't want it. If you do, thats cool...

And, for the record, people that have ridden and raced for most of their lives generally good enough to use threshold bring principles in MOST situations.
