Duel discs are nice, but not needed with todays bikes. The ABS brakes are fine. I'd go with the switchback and then just pop off the windshield and bags if you want. It'll get awful expensive adding all that to the LR. Just my 2 cents.
He's gonna pay $3,000 more for the Switchback. You can put bags, windshield, sissy, floorboards, exhaust, air cleaner, programmer, bars...etc with that money. He could negotiate that stuff in when doing the deal.

Altari, good point. For sure I'm going to want the bags, floorboards, and windshield. Will also add a sissy bar, which I regard as a must-have, if for no other reason that it is the ideal place to stow the helmet when parked. We'll see what the dealer says.
Right now I am looking at a left-over new 2015 Switchback, and seeing what deal they will make now that the 2016s are here.
You want a comment on the brakes. Get the dual discs. Besides that little bit of extra braking power, aesthetically on the front end, the dual set-up looks better to me. My old FXR had dual discs with cast wheels, my current dyna is the same. The duals look more balanced. All the points you raise are completely personal choice. Me, I'd save the 3 grand for upgrades.
Get a switchback and make it your own. I got mine for 16K OTD last year on a closeout 13 model with 22miles on it. I had a vision for it and it is almost complete.

I hade a wide glide that I bought in June of 2011 about 30 days before the switchback came out , after seeing the switchback I tried adding all of what you state, in the end there was NO WAY the wide glide was ever going to be or compare to the switchback and I traded it in after just 6 months..
100% glad I did..... again, this is why I say rent each model for a day
and make your decision from there, that 10 mile test ride they give you WONT be enough...
