The Opt7 website says their 40 watt Led bulb will not fit into my FXDX housing with the 5 3/4 size. Anyone try it?

If your bucket is a top-mount 5.75" (67672-96B) which is what's on my '04 FXDP, then yea, the OPT 7 LED will fit just fine. Not a lotta room to spare, but it & the ballast/wiring fits in the bucket OK. Was a 10 min install for me. I already had an air hole, from the previous HID install.

FYI, I know you didn't ask, but in addition to the OEM halogen bulb, I've used a PIAA Extreme White, and a 6000K HID wi 55w ballast on the OEM bucket with faceted lens. While the OPT 7 is good, the HID is better imho. None of them are great. I think the faceted-lens 5.75 bucket is just crap from the get-go. The absolute worst (by far!) was the PIAA Extreme White! What t total waste of $50 that was! Anybody want mine? Used only once. That was enough!

Got mine from kutter for $320 and believe what you want, but it is brighter than ALL my buddies cheap knock offs, so much so that 3 of them trashed the eBay junk and bought the HD....Attachment 443662

It fit (barely) into my 5 3/4 bottom mount housing with faceted glass lens (from a 2002 Softtail according to seller). Big improvement from anything else I've tried and I don't do enough night riding to buy a Daymaker, which I also think look weird.

Thanks guys, my FXDX is a top mount bucket so it looks like I might be good. I have a 24 watt led in there right now and it's pretty good. Always want more, so on with the 40 watt!

I got the OPT7 into my stock Low Rider bucket. I had to work it a little, but eventually got the wires so that everything fit.
