Bike was purchased 8-21-14 and has 6735 miles on it.....
I noticed mine was oozing around the gasket. I read that the gaskets were going bad...wonder if I should try to get mine fixed under warranty, probably a good idea if it's free.

See this helps me.

The point of the post was not to knock Harley (no pun intended).

No failures and going strong after 5 years 23K mikes.
i do my own work starting at 500 miles.
Amsoil throughout including the forks.
make sure to use either Harley Davidson oil filters or amsoil filters 5 micro.
install cobra auto tuner.
I've changed my wheel bearings every other tire change, but going to let the Timkens run longer.
Change my brakes before they are spent, same with tires.
Change my own oils twice a year, adjust the clutch at least once a year.
Check and tighten my spokes every year.
Upgraded the suspension, seat, forward controls.floorboards
Added a detachable windshield.
remove inspect lube the jack stand,
Replaced the fenders after 4 years from paint damage due to New England chemicals on the road.
replaced the tail light bulb once after three years.
Lube the cables, adjust the throttle cables.
Replace both relays twice. Dielectric all fuse.
replace battery
New starter clutch after 4 years 20K.
Just ordered new Lyndall gold rear pads cause the rear brakes are not cutting it lately.
third set in the rear, still second set in front.
Changed tires 3 times in the rear twice in the front.
it's never over.
I maintain my bike as if my life depended on it.
i don't wait around waiting for things to break down rather read inspect and prepare for the road ahead.

Let me see now , did I leave anything out ?

*snort*

In all seriousness though...

2008 FXDC ~60000 miles.
Stator burned up.
Clutch hub fractures. (see next line)
Auto tensioner a POS ( see previous line)
Front and rear wheel bearings are crap.
Motor mounts are crap.
Front motor mount has a preload on it.
Bike probably never got a 'vehicle alignment' procedure done when assembled.

Actually not bad for 60k+ miles... done a lot to her. Standard consumables like brake pads...etc.... other than what's listed - I've just put miles on my horse.

may have already been mentioned but at close to 6k miles on my '12 street bob I have oil leaking up through my clutch cable at the adjuster. Vent isn't plugged and I have no idea what is causing it at the moment. And before my 1k service the spokes were so loose you could turn them by hand!!!

2001 FXD 51K miles...stator, cam chain tensioners, IPB, start/run switches and complete clutch with basket, all done between 33K and 44K miles when it was under extended warranty. Since then, I have replaced the primary chain tensioner, horn, jiffy stand spring, rear bearings (left bearing was damaged by an indy changing the tire). Did a great 3 hour ride Saturday and as soon as I can finally get the cold start/idle problem worked out of this carb, we gonna be grinnin' in the wind...

I had the air in both tires go stale two days after my factory warranty expired.

2014 FXDL, only 3k miles so far.
Absolutely no problem at all. I first thought shift clunk and valve train noise are something of problem, but I have been told that they are normal. So no issues at all.

Yeah, that's why I started buying used bikes. Once the previous owner installs aftermarket air it's much easier to keep them inflated.
And don't forget to stay away from the dealer's shop monkeys.
