Default Low rider or superglide

I've made my mind up , sorta ,, its down to either a superglide , or a new low rider ,, my preferance being a new L.R ,, its just seems to fit right out the box , the S.G well i would have to change bars and possibly seat .. But my main concern is scraping , i ride hills and twisty roads a lot , 80% of the time ,, i'm no evil kneival , but i'm never at the back of the pack either ,,

I'm concerned over the LR scraping the pegs too much , i know the SG will be ok because i ride with guys who have them , and to be honest , if i'm on my tourer , when we hit the hills i struggle to keep up ,, but on my v strom i leave them behind ,, probably be getting rid of both my tourer and v strom to buy the one bike .

Also if i bought the LR and it did scrape would the fix be has simple has a set of longer shocks , because i would probably change them anyway .

Opinions and advice please .. Oh i live in Aust , and we can only buy the LR new here a SG would have to be used

If you are set on HD, get the LR...if not, move to the metric sportbike world/forum.

Another option is a used Buell (Firebolt or Lightning)...

Iceman24 nailed it bro.

Sounds like you ride in semi-competitive packs where a sport bike would suit a rider best. For a group riding style where your position at the end of the run is generally the same as at the start of it, scraping in the twisties shouldn't be a major concern.

Never mind the LR. Get a pasta rocket and have fun with your mates.

Im not into sports bikes or dragging knees ,If i was the v strom is a good bike anyway , the SG will perform more than well enough for my needs , my question is given the lower clearance , will the LR handle has well has the SG in the twisty stuff ,, by that i mean the 25 - 30- -40 mph stuff with tight switchbacks ... You don't have to be speeding in this stuff to have fun ,, but scraping pegs is scary i don't like it , your just one peg from digging in to an accident .

Ride each and see which you like. Everyone here will have an opinion, but no one can tell you which bike you'd prefer. Personally, I really like the Low Rider. But I haven't ridden a Super Glide, and I've heard lots of good things about them.

Ive had both.. the LR and a SG.. the lowrider never scraped once with the dumflop 180 on the rear. It went through the dumflops pretty fast but never scraped.. and I used to wheel it through some pretty tight twisties.. Better rear shocks stock wise than the Super Glide.. having said that I upgraded my SG shocks to a set of HD SE 11.5 inch high ended shocks and the SG now sticks like glue in corners and has never scraped.. (I don't count that low speed right in town high sided bendy where I out rode the mushy HD front end and scraped my pythons.. (GRRRRR) but no peg made contact.

Either way.. both are good platforms ..

The Super Glide was last made in either 2013 or 2014, so you may not be able to find a new one. I'm sure there are plenty of gently used ones out there with plenty of aftermarket goodies already installed. I absolutely love my 2015 LR.

Yes you can change the shocks, but stock, I'm 5-8" 200 pounds, I ride mine like I stole it...scrape here and there, who cares...
