Anyone have experience with Progressive IAS 13.5 Shocks (or other brand) mounted on an 05 Lowrider? Stock HD shocks are 12.625 and I need more travel and better dampening.Been having grounding problemswith sharp right handers and I think the longer travel will providemore clearance.
Frank
The stock shocks on your Low Rider should be 12". The other Dynas (except Street Bobs in 06 and 07) have 12 5/8".
The FXDX came with, I believe, 13.3" shocks and it was definitely up in the air.
I put the 1" longerprogressives on my wide glide and it made a world of difference. The shocks are much nicer and the stocksprings on the progressivesare about 10 lbs per side stiffer than the stock Harley shocks and because I ride 2-up most of the time, we no longer drag turning either way unless I'm really wickin it. Went on the Kyle Petty ride in 05 and did 4800 miles in 10 days, solo, and then had mama fly into Greenville NC and we 2-upped it home to Louisiana. In both cases the ride was lightyears better than stock----jack
Thanks Jack.
My real issue is the $530 I was quoted to buy the shocks. I've already spentmore than$3500 on the bike for chrome parts, windshield, sundowner seat, handlebars, bags, relocation kit for lic. plate, grips, exhaust, pwr. cmdr., dyno tune.
Man, its gettin worse than the boat I sold a few years back. You know, a hole into which you poor money. I did add about 1.25 extra ozs of fork oil and that did seem to help a bit, but the 39mm forks are hurtin. Oh, Ialsoinstalled a $180 Harley fork bracebut still a bit squirrely under hard acceleration in the corners.
