An interesting thing happened on the way home today...
So I shut down and got off and hauled out the DL, CC permit, and insurance card and handed them over and confirmed that I was not armed (don't allow firearms on school property). He went back to his unit and ran them and then proceeded to tell me that he pulled me over because my brake lights were stuck on. Seriously!
Of course, I check them and the Custom Dynamics system is working as advertised...bright and brighter! I commented that they were working fine now and the look on his face was priceless when he realized that my brake lights were working and the running lights were just bright. He commented on the brakes flashing before going solid as a good attention getter but complained that the running lights were too bright, looking like they were stuck on as I rode down the road. I asked him if being that bright was a problem and he said no, it was all in compliance with a good inspection sticker so I was good to go.
But I could just tell that he really wanted to write a ticket for the lights. He followed me for a few more blocks, I guess to see if the brake lights really were cycling on and off before moving on to more important LEO business.
I really like this Custom Dynamics system! It gets attention!
So do you have the equalizer that allows patterns to be set up? Mine doesn't have that but I'd like to once available for the 2014's and later.
Why would you show him your CC permit if you weren't carrying?
Either he wanted to harass you or you're really a salesman for Custom Dynamics?

"The Brake Light is stuck on"
Well obviously they're not,, but for the average idiot driving down the street that's exactly what they think.
I'm all for decent bright lights,, but these are kind of overkill if they act like they aren't functioning.
Most people are used to seeing an given light intensity for running and brake,, these are too bright for running lights.

He was polite and professional so no reason to push back, and I wasn't worried about legal issues or anything like that, the bike is up to date and legal and all my "documents" are in order. No speeding (too much traffic), no lane changes without signaling, nothing but the lights. I didn't even notice he was behind me until he lit me up. I really think he thought my brake lights were not in working order and was going to write me a ticket. Surprise!
Here in Texas, you are expected to hand over your CC permit with your DL when you are pulled over. It saves time and shows respect. When the LEO runs your DL they will see the CC permit and come right back and ask for the permit and if you are armed or a weapon is in the vehicle. It shows respect (and will save you a lot of hassle) to just get that all over with up front so he can focus on the issue at hand without wondering why you didn't tell him you were armed. Trust me, you drive down here, that is what you do. Depending on where you are, it can get really sticky for you if you don't. Remember, Waco? And some of those riders had permits but it didn't mean squat when the **** hit the fan and they started loading the wagons.
In all, it was fun to see him crushed when he could not write the ticket on the last day of the month when he probably needed to make his quota.
