I refill my gas tank every time it gets low, so it won't rust. It costs money, but I think it's worth it.

Haha... I wish I was so perfect that I could prevent every maintenance difficulty on Earth too. Must be a back east thing to replace fasteners as preventative maintenance, if so please forgive my ignorance.

fxdlx has a good way of protecting the inside of the tank. In cooler months it is best to keep a full tank, not necessarily so in the summer.
This helps eliminate moisture in the tank, compensation type. I have already started keeping my full. None ethanol type.
If I see rust on the studs and or nut I just clean em

My problem has always been with those nuts rattling loose...seems like everything comes loose or gets stuck!
