I hooked up to the accessory line of the power adapter. While the fan is quiet and cannot be heard while riding, if you shut down the engine (but leave the ignition on), you should be able to hear the fan if it's running. The fan switch I have turns it on when oil hits 180 degrees. I think the stock switch activates at 200 but I may be wrong there.

i tried that and heard silence. i may need to revisit the connections. the led should be here by Wednesday. i will double check the connections while patching in the led.
Cool idea. Of course the fan may not come on if your temps are cool. Mine has not come on during my last couple of rides with ambient temps in the mid 50's guess my oil isn't getting too hot!

looking at that setup again, i just realized that there is no fuse on the fan line from our setups and the line runs straight to the main ECU
I have to go back and redo that line asap. i used waterproof quick disconnects so i'll just add a fuse with disconnects between the fan and the power adapter on the diagnostic line.

Hmmm, I was told that with the power adapter I did not need to run any additional fuses. I have the fan power switch going directly into the power adapter (ignition port), and it works perfectly?
Bought a inline fuse to safeguard the ECU and an led to monitor the fan activity on the cooler
set up fuse (used 10A) to patch into the line. Mounted... nothing to see here
the dorman led is meant or panel mounting so it has a adjustable, knurled/threaded support. great
fitted the led into one of the clutch cable clamps i bought earlier to test fit it on the bike
fit better than expected. i ordered another clamp
waited on clamp
clamp popped up. i mounted the led and patched it into the fan power line via a piggyback slider connector. i grounded the led on the back of the regulator
test rrode the bike and the led lives .............done!
Excellent work, that's great thinking using the clutch cable clamp!
thank you actually. i kinda just sat there looking at the bike and in my tool box for some way to mount the led without drilling or putting it in a distracting position. clamp just jumped out at me.
