I keep my bike in a storage unit and I like to put several bags of moth ***** wherever there is wiring. I use the perforated bags so the moth ***** don't roll everywhere.

If you have to keep it out side I recommend the green Irish spring soap. It sounds weird but it works. I use it when I store my RV and it will keep rodents from crawling in and chewing wires. I told my friend about it when he was having mice come into the engine bay of his daily driver and it has kept them out for years now. He lives on a ranch down here away from town. My RV has not been chewed up by critters either. As for cats you will probably need to wrap it up good.

I hope this helps.

Electronic Animal Repellents from HavahartŽ are Effective, Humane, and Low-Maintenance

HavahartŽ only offers electronic animal repellents that work – the electronic repellents offered on this site are the result of rigorous testing and animal research. The repellents work to frighten away or cause discomfort to animals like mice, rats, cats, dogs, deer, rabbits, squirrels, and more, without causing them any harm and without using any dangerous chemicals. And since you don’t need to continuously reapply these repellents, electronic deterrents require almost no maintenance.

The Irish Spring worked for me also, critters used to get into my boat motors that were covered up and stored outside.

I have also used WD-40 when having had to store motorcycles outside in the past. I used to buy a gallon can of it and pour in into their WD-40 spray bottle. Everything other than the tank and fenders were liberally doused in it. WD-40 is a water dis-placer not a lubricant and will completely evaporate around the time you take it out of storage.

Mothballs can work as well. I keep a couple of open boxes in the corners of my garage. Has been effective at keeping the mice out.

As stated in post above, moth *****, Irish Spring (new one to me) anything perfume(y)...I use scented drier sheets in my boat ( rod locker, battery wells, catch all cubby...) when in storage and haven't had any issues.
Anything super scented will throw their delicate sense of smell and keep them at bay. Steel wool in the pipes..awesome. Good luck man.

If you have the ability, go out and crank it up and let it idle for a lil while. May be cheaper option, just a lil time consuming for ya. I try to ride mine when I had it all year. When it was too cold to ride, I would go out and let it warm up weekly to keep the fluids running through it. Seemed to keep everything but spiders off it. But, I was not REAL far in the country. You may have more critters to worry about than i had to.

Thanks for all the replies, definitely going to throw a bar of Green Irish spring in there, my bro called his bug guy today, he's going to put some bait stations under the deck to lure them away from the bike. Grabbing steel wool for the pipes.
Buckmaster, I pulled the battery so I can put it on the trickle charger. Great ideas, Thanks again guys, it pains me to see her under there but my next place will have storage.

Seat, saddlebags and battery have been removed.
Thanks from dreary ole New England.
Find a friend, or a neighbor with space in their garage. What makes bikes look old are temperature swings, about under a deck is about the worst place you can be short of being in the open. Any building, even an unheated shed slows the temperature changes which in turn reduces moisture condensation on every metal and plastic part, including connectors.
Critters are an issue. Steel wool packed into the exhaust is what I used when I lived in Maine. But you risk, rodent damage to wires and electrical corrosion.
Ask the lady next door if she has room in here garage to park your bike. Find some summer tourist business that is closed to let you park your bike inside. Under a deck would be my very last choice.
I'd go down the street knocking on every door until I found someone who would let me park my bike inside, even at 70, I'd volunteer to help shovel snow, clean the gutters, bring them venison, something.

added: I forgot, when I lived in Maine and stored my bike in an old chicken shed, I also used naphtha (naphthalene) moth *****. Now I use rodent poisons and have less mice.

I don't know if I missed it somewhere but is there no way you can bring it inside your new house? That's what I do with my wide glide
