The service manager sounds like a dick and I wouldnt go back either. It wouldnt surprise me if the moco paid him for something that wasnt done. I would have kept houning the btard to find out what was done. Its stories like this that keep ky bike out of dealerships
Thanks for the replies.
They also broke my throttle grip and an exhaust bolt which had to be laser'd out.
!
Back to troll on the laser'd out (from someone..anyway.) However, if they broke the exhaust bolt when they correct the oil use, sounds like they probably re-honed the cylinder with a crosshatch and installed new rings. probably new valve guide seals and valve inspection. Warranty service of this type probably paid the mechanic only a few hours from the mother ship (similar to the way Medicare and big insurance companies pay) So the mechanic rolls to get to better paying work.
Probably need to let rings seat. Be sure you are using your brakes to stop and not down shifting using engine compression. That type of driving causes a lot of oil use and prevents rings from seating due to high vacuum pulling oil in.

Can you explain how engine braking prevents rings from seating? I understand how it can use oil but that's a new one to me. I would think it would do the opposite and would seat the rings
what you should try is using Lucas additive to your oil, it stabilizes the oil viscosity when it's hot & seals rings better. I always add Lucas to my motor & it never burns an ounce of oil, I'm sold on the idea that lucas fights start up wear too. it's highly recommended for Harley Davidsons, they claim it reduces friction which helps the motor run cooler.
maybe you could try that restore additive too. that reseals the cylinder walls.

when you engine brake It creates a vacuum in your cylinders which is what creates the braking force, but the vacuum also sucks oil up through the rings into your cylinder.
