Ok, here I am ready to hit the enter key and fire a scathing broadside but then I realized that this all started with me so after looking back to see why my post to the OP drew all these negative replies I realize that I was demeaning. I apologize to the OP for this lack of respect. It was not my intent.

After a prior experience with airplanes in a salt air environment, I've developed a habit of plugs that I disconnect, relays I pull, and electrical connections get some form of protectant on the connections. Bikes or cars they get cleaned and treated. Glad you found your gremlin and got rid of it, thanks for the tip.
