Just asking because Im curious, but why cant you treat this like a car tire and plug it? Not like its on the sidewall.
IMHO it would be because on a MC an abundance of caution is warranted for safety reasons and you don't want to knowingly set out on a compromised tire.
Nothing wrong with plugging a tubeless motorcycle tire. I've done several, and have never had any problems. I would have an issue with an 8 year old tire though. Probably hard as a rock.

Thats a different story. Im just thinking if I bought new tires and it happened I would definitely be plugging it.
I've got 2 brand new Commander II's sitting in the garage waiting for me to install them at some point. I've read too many good reviews on them not to try them. They have to be better than the Dunlop 402 currently on my ride and worn out in 4500 miles.
Well my father asked what I wanted for xmas. Well I have new commander II 's coming. Front and back. Can't wait to see the differance. Any point of keeping an old but good thread front tire around?

It can get you by in a pinch if God forbid something destroys the new tire. It happens!
Got a screw in the tire today so I'm going to be needing a new rear tire. I see the dunlop k591 and the commander II. Anybody have any good reviews to give. My stock dunlopd are 8 Years old with 3k miles on them. I've only had the bike the last 800 miles so i don't have much experience with the dunlops.
Put an American Elite on it. And being 8 yrs old, put one on the other end too.
If it wasn't for the age, I'd plug it and continue on, there's still plenty of meat left.
