I can't make a decision on a seat.
I'm 5'11" and my tail bone will start to hurt after 50 miles in the stock seat. Not sure if moving back, up, or stay the same will help.
Anyone else that is 5'11" what did you do to alleviate this?
I have the stock controls and 12" tbars.
LePara?
Mustang?
Daddy Long Legs?
Standard?
50 miles is not very long. Did you ergonomically set yourself up properly when u put in your 12 inch bars? If your leaning back...that's going to put pressure on your sacral region which translates into tail bone soreness.
That was more so with the stock bars, it has gotten a bit better with the tbars. Went for a 115 mile ride today, and it wasn't too bad. I only had to hop up on the back of the stock seat a couple of times.
Definitely give it a few more rides. Almost any thicker aftermarket seat and a rear suspension upgrade will always makes a longer ride enjoyable. Those stock shocks don't absorb the road irregularities very well which means it's going transfer more of the force to your body over time.
your hurting because that seat is a piece of crap. any of the brands you listed will be a vast improvement, but yes some of them will move you around a bit in any given direction.
I don't see forwards helping, because that would put more pressure on my tail. I do plan on adding them, but am convinced the seat is crap and has me in the wrong position.
My concern with the mustang, is that it looks like it doesn't give much room to move. Am I right by saying that? I've only heard good things about them.
On my sportster I had added a gel insert. On my cross bones I kept the spring seat. And on my stree glide, I think o had the stock, I just added a backrest.
Have used mustang wide touring solo on 4 bikes, always satisfied. It will raise you up and inch, not sure about front to back. I was surprised that the stock shocks, once adjusted handle the bumps fairly well to me. 5 11", 215lbs.
