Handlebars, I'm used to clip-ons (bars below the top of the tank) so the buckhorns are a little to high for me.
I agree w/voyager, don't go lower [sm=badidea.gif]just get something different. IMO buckhorns are the worst handlebars ever - just totally ignorant for ergonomics. you could not pay me to ride a bike w/bucks -[:'(]. your cruisin now not racin so better bars w/risers or mini apes or the real thing 14" or higher apes will do wonders. trust us ape owners (mine are 16") - don't knock em until ya try em.
I agree, I'm just going to test fit the FXDL barswith the stock 1" risers. If I need more height I can get 2" or 3" risers with or without some pull back. I want to work on the bend first (the hard part) I sat on a low rider at the dealer and I liked the angle my wrist's were at.
It's a BSA WDM20.
WD standing for War Dept. This one was made during the height of the Battle of Britain in September 1940.
Basically just a militarised version of the pre-war BSA M20 500cc single.
I would look at J&P cycles for lower bars. I changed the stock buckhorns from my superglide to a set that was wider with less pullback and a bit lower. I actually have a slight bend to my wait with them wich I belive is the best ergonomics for riding. Ever hit a pot hole with ape hangers? that shock just goes right up your spine.
Thanks for the welcome. Yeah, I found a set on J&P part# 5000832 "low rise drag bar". roxo56 has them on his bike. Check his thread with pics of the set up. UPS is bringing the FXDL bars today, I'll see how they feel and go from there.
I've heard some thinking the cycle shak slipons too quiet. You may want to listen to a set before installing
UPDATE: Just installed the Cycle Shacks,........ LOUD, I don't know if they've changed the design but these are just right. I ride with ear plugs (lot of wind noise with a shorty helmet) and it sounds great even with those in my ears. A real traditional Harley sound. And only $140 from Zanotti's.
Well im still riding both , cant get rid of either of im other bike is an 05' Hayabusa
Started on HD first then bought the Busa then my current HD 06' bob
Yeah...thats my thing. I couldn't get rid of the 636. Two different style bikes but both TOTALLY FUN in their own way. I ride the Harley more though....
