It never fails to amaze me, when someone gets a new Harley! It's like a kid in a candy store! WOW! look what I got! Now, I always had used HD's but was never able to buy a brand new one. Yea, I went through the jap bike's but never got a new HD. In 2007 I got my first brand new Harley. And I was so proud! I had to tell the world! I think I must have rode it to everyone's house I knew just to show it off! Somebody tell me what's up with that? It had to be the greatest feeling in the world. I got a new pin! It's my new love! I don't know. Somebody tell me? ............................HOLLYWOOD
Hard to say, being as this is the first Harley I've owned I can only say from a "new guy" perspective. Previous, I've owned sport bikes(an FZR and a CBR). It kinda reminds me of when I had my Jeep CJ-7; there's a kind of brotherhood between Harley owners. It's not like just owning a machine like when I had the CBR. It's almost like you have something really cool and special. When I got my little HD beast, it was something I was and still am pretty proud of. And you bet your a$% I rode it to all my friends' houses to show it off!
I have had my Harley for a couple months now....never had a bike before except back in mid 80's when I had a Yamaha 175 trail bike. Was actually kinda nervous trying to re-learn how to ride....but yeah...I can't believe I waited THIS long to get back into it!
I appriciate good looking and running Harley's, but having purchased my first "brand new" Harley in 1972 (and owned them since 1969) I think I've gotten over the "WOW" factor...
Guess I might feel different if I went through the metric bike thing and was purchasing my first harley, but I've never owned any cruisers except for Harleys.
I have used metrics in the past, and then a couple of months ago, I bought my first Harley - a 02 883, and there has been nothing like it. I know my bike is no wannabe, and is one every other biker wants to be on. I have been showing it off a lot too.
My wife and co-workers have been telling me that since I got the scoot, I am crankier on the days I cannot ride.
There is no other motorcycle that engenders as much passion as a Harley...of any model. For millions, it is the pinnacle of what motorcycles are all about.
CapnAdventure, Thank's for that post, I think you nailed it. You found the word's I couldn't find. Ride safe and keep it in the wind..........HOLLYWOOD
I think you should put that on a shirt and sell it....................
