Get em while the gettin' is good....
Offshore, where I work, we use Yuasa brand batteries almost exclusively. Abusing them is standard practice. Yuasa's seem to keep taking a charge and remain in service longer than most other brands. Offshore, serviceability is of paramount importance because a piece of equipment often represents many times its original value FOB the job-site. A $100 replacement battery, critical to an operation, could cost a thousand bux choppered out to us on short notice. ("Yes, you bet your *** we carry spares"! )
I got a small bit of info if anybody is interested. I work at Advance Auto and all the older powersport batteries that are in the Autocraft box are reboxed Deka batteries. Made in USA and Identical to the HD batteries. The new ones that Advance sells are not Deka anymore and are not in a box. I went though our stock last week and found 9 of the Deka batteries that were from July of 14. IF they are 18months or older they have to be sold as "used/out of date" batteries. Those batteries all tested out at 545-575 CCA. Battery rating is only 310. They are sold at $19.99 a piece. I bought 2 and the other 7 were sold to friends and family. So if anybody wants to go get one. Look for one in a box and tell them its out of date and you want it as a "used/out of date" battery
The OEM batteries are pretty good I think. Use a battery tender when you can't ride for extended periods.
Its funny how batteries remain a significant expense for our bikes and they have to be replaced every X number of years. I'm just glad I don't own an all electric car or motorcycle.
