I had a 180 on my 09 FXD and did not like the fit; the rim is too narrow for a 180. The bike comes stock with 160-70-17 while the 180 is a 180-60-17. It is wider and shorter so the sidewall is at a steeper angle causing the tire to round and wear out faster. Additionally while it looked better from the rear the shorter tire did not fill the fender as well. I have since added taller shocks so this would be even more prominent.
The pics in the mountains are with 180's and the other is with the 160's.
That good to know. I can live with the 160. It will handle better anyway. I just like the way the 180 looks.
Nothing but love from this Softail owner for this new Dyna! I dig both Dynas and Softails, and if this bike were out a few months ago I would have had a hard decision to make (I bought a Slim S)!
I do wonder why they lowered the Compression Ratio between the Low and other two S bikes. On Harley's page it says that the Low's ratio is 9.2:1, while the others are 9.5:1. Then again, I know next to nothing about compression ratios other than "higher is better", if that's even true.
The Motor Company did right with the new Low Rider S, and with the S series of bikes in general. I can't wait to see Low Rider S owners trickle in onto this site, posting pics and stuff :-)
No the shocks look to be 12". I just overlayed a picture of my bike at the same angle as one of the promo pictures of the "S" and the ride height looks to be identical. If there is any difference it will be in the seat. Nothing guaranteed but that is how it looks in my overlay.
l changed to Emulsion Shocks on my 014 Lowrider and l don't recall having to change the jack height to fit them. They are a HUGE improvement over the stock shocks too btw.

There are only 2 180 tires made to fit on a 4.5 rim which this bike more then likely has...wont know for sure till we get more info. The Street Bob and the Wide Glide both have 4.5 rim stock. Wide Glide comes with 180, Street Bob 160. See where I'm going with this?
I have a 180 on my bike right now...Michelin Scorcher 31..stock tire on a Wide Glide. That tire has over 10,000 mile as I type this? Think it wears out faster casue it don't fit the rim?

So why exactly are you trolling on the Dyna Page? How about you get your *** out of here and go back to split tail land where you belong!
I was more just responding to Greezy Rider's dumb comments about the B motor and softails. I was actually one of the first people to post in this thread in a positive manner. The new bike looks great. I still like the Slim much better, but they did a good job on the low rider.
I had an Avon which may have had something to do with the quick wear. I think the 4.5 is a little narrow for a 180 (7.08 inches wide) and will stick with the 160 (6.29 inches wide) on a stock rim.

The tires listed (GT502, Night Dragon, and Scorcher 31) are designed to be run on a 4.5 rim. But it's your prerogative.
Just a side note. The 180 on my Street Bob is wear exactly like the stock 160 did.
As soon as my dealer gets one in, I'll ride down and check it out. Really interested and ready to buy at MSRP. I'll change the rear fender and probably black the wheels out. First new Harley I've been interested in in years.
Security, cruise, ABS, good suspension and a 110". Oh yeah!!!
