dyna-petey,
What fairing is that in your thumbnail on pg 204? I like the looks of it.

Installed my exhaust last night... Vance and Hines High Output 2-1 Short.. sounds means as hell! Flashed the map from the fp3.. what a difference! Love the exhaust! Love the fp3. Can't wait to get some more miles on it!

You might be right. The local HD dealer is saying so. I thought my FP3 would have done pretty close to a dyno tune, but the shop assures me if I buy a Race Tuner off them, and take it to the local bike dyno guy, it will be much better than the FP3.

I actually took a demo Low Rider S for a ride today to compare. It had a two brothers exhaust on it. Much deeper note than the Bassani I put on. The Bassani seems to have more or a loud bark and crack then a deep rumble. After doing a comparison, I noticed that where I was missing the power most was that down low torque that used to be there by the bucket load. It did feel a bit better after applying the auto tune after putting a few more miles on it. So, yes, maybe a dyno tune is what it needs.

The plan at this stage is, talk to the dyno tuner hopefully tomorrow and get his advice. If he says so, order a quiet baffle, and book it in with what ever tuner he recons (i.e. if he recons to change from the FP3 to something else).

Thank you for the comments fellas.
I think your on the right track. The FP3 has real limitations compared to the HD super tuner and tuners like a Powervision have even greater ability. In the right hands with the right technician the PV is a great tool for tuning and setting up your bike to its best.
If you head down south to Melbourne a real guru is Brian Lennon at Eastern Big Twin.
Your bike will be night and day different. Might be worth calling him to see who he would recommend in your area, as he runs training for dyno operators and is one of a handful of people in Australia who calibrates dynometers and is often consulted by other professional tuners.

Picked her up yesterday, very happy with this purchase

Brakes are dangerously mushy at the moment, should come good.

The LED flush mount cap is useless, shows full on start up then goes to 1 dot. Even with a full tank of fuel. Will take it back for warranty.

The shift lever was waaaay up, I had to rotate it 20 degrees lower, the clutch adjustment was way out too. Have to pull all the way to the grip to engage the clutch, coming from a Motocross background I am used to pulling the clutch in the tiniest amount.

Bassani RR3 sounds amazing, I rode home with stock tune in it and was very lean, but just babied it the 22km home. Wired up the powervision and flashed in a Fuel Moto Map. Instantly the bike ran much better, the flat spot about 2.5k rpm gone, smooth pull through out. The increased limiter makes it way better. The stock bikes limiter kicks in way too early and hard.

Hit the local industrial estate that was vacant at 4pm on a saturday and did some Auto tuning and logging, filled most of the VE cells and reflashed 3 times. A lot smoother and runs a lot cooler.

This bike seems to have a shitload of compression braking compared to all my other bikes, I don't mind it at all.

Overall, stoked on the purchase, let the mods begin

Got to get rid of the stupid reflectors, pipe is bad *** though!

Powervision routed from Fusebox, under seat, under tank and mounted to bars, came up neat.

Thank you. I spoke to the local dyno shop here yesterday. Lots of people have told me they do good work. The guru tuner wasn't there, but the fella I spoke to seemed good too. He recons they have made some good power with Bassani, so thought they could make it good with a tune on the dyno. Apparently they have done a couple of Low Rider S's too, which is good. He didn't think much of the Fuelpak 3, so thought I'd have to get a different tuner, which is fine. They said they often just use the HD one.

I was happy with the V&H slip Ons, and FP3, and it made a big difference over stock. I suppose it depends on application. Maybe a full new exhaust system benifits from a dyno tune and a different tuner. I still like the FP3 for what it is. It will be interesting to see the difference in torque and power if they do a before and after using the FP3 and the HD tuner.

I also mentioned that I'm open to a new set of cams if he thought it would help bring out the best.

I'll chat to them again early in the week.

Good stuff. These bikes with a bit of headwork, high comp pistons and matched cams, good 2 into 1 exhaust and a tuned well can put out some impressive hp and tq. All without needing to sell a kidney.
Good luck with it mate. Sounds like its going to end up a good thing for you.
