Hey guys, my 15 FXDF did not come with the Key Fob and or alarm. I was thinking about having one installed. I know there are some aftermarket versions, which I haven't ruled out. My question is, do the guys that have that alarm like them, is the pager worth the extra bucks? I am sure they are somewhat of a deterrent, nothing is safe with a motivated thief.
I have a stock alarm ECM and fob that I need to take to the dealer to have installed- Which sux because putting it in is easy but it requires the HD computer to enable and mate it with the TCM. I like the fact that you no longer need to worry about locking the ignition with the key.
I probably would not get the pager. I had a pager alarm on my custom chopper and it was useless. Professional thieves are usually three or four guys in a van / truck, pick up bike and put it in van / truck, gone in 60 seconds. Fortunately that is a smaller percentage of theft events.
I have it on my Fat Bob. I installed it over Labor Day when the dealer was doing free labor. It does require a dealer flash which should only be 1/2 hour labor. I got in mainly for so I don't have to mess with the key too. I didn't bother with the pager option either. In my case it would just be another thing for me to lose/break.
I'm just bought my first HD and I've been researching GPS tracking devices for motorcycles. I had a Scorpio alarm on my Suzuki, and while on their website the have a special GPS tracker that piggy backs the factory system. Anyone know anything about it yet? I haven't seen anything on the forums, just thought I would add my 2 cents here.
