I think it would be cool & different to paint the tank, headlight, battery cover & fenders Silver and have the whole bike silver, then white out all the lights and take the reflectors off the forks, maybe if want to go all the way paint the swing arm too, hell even paint the switch housings.

I think it would look totally unique and bad ***.

that all would be a lot quicker & easier than paint the motor, besides black motor/ black bikes are everywhere and it's been over done.

I like the black engine look with the chrome accents. I'm not a big fan of the all wrinkle black look. I don't want to lose the chrome.

Nice bike you have there. Since you're in Ohio, you might want to get some battery charger leads so you can easily "plug in" your battery anytime.

EDIT~ After looking at your new to you bike, how about black powder coating the triple clamps and fork sliders? Maybe the wheels too? That would look unique, just like everyone else...
Well, I grew up on dirt bikes and have been riding since I could just about walk haha. 2-strokes, 4-strokes, you name it. I'm comfortable on my Dyna because it's not too big of a bike and it's pretty easy to maneuver. The battery tender hookups are already on the bike and I've had the battery tender on it since December. But I try to avoid as many "close calls" as I can by covering the brake or slowing down with the expectation that the car I'm looking at is going to pull out in front of me. But I'm with you, you can never have too much training.

I completely agree with NORTY FLATZ; training training training. And yea, a Battery Tender

Before I started any 'pretty' mods I'd look at my performance upgrades first. Are you running an optimal map with the V&H tuner? Is the A/C truly a free flowing design or can you do better? For sure I'd absolutely pull those baffles out of the Big Radius pipes and install some W158 Thunder Torque Inserts to improve the low and mid range performance and deepen the tone of the pipes.
I'm not sure if it's the optimal map, the original owner put it on. I will get on the V&H website and get a new suggested map from them after I look into potentially upgrading the A/C. I like the look and design of the Harley heavy breather kit. I've also contemplated an oil cooler. I know they run hotter since they're not liquid cooled so that extra peace of mind is never bad.

Edit: I rode a shadow before this which is no way near as much motor as my Dyna.

Great buy! Your bike looks CLEAN as it is. If you do end up blacking out components, don't use paint. Get them powdercoated. A good powdercoater will be able to mimic the wrinkle black HD uses if that's what you want to do.

If you are considering a forward facing A/C such as the HD Heavy Breather look in to the DK Custom Products 636v. The Heavy Breather is an EPA compliant system that vents the hot, oily, oxygen depleted crankcase gas back in to the air filter, the 636v vents those gasses that hamper performance and engine longevity out to atmosphere. There are 6 different options of external breathers you can choose from with the 636v.

The 636v is also a Patent Pending design that creates a Venturi Effect due to the shape of the intake tube and beats the Heavy Breather in dyno runs. The 636v is available in 2 finishes and has 4 different K&N air filter options.

I agree with you on adding an oil cooler, I'm running the Jagg 750-2500 low mount on my Wide Glide and when monitoring temperatures with my Power Vision I did notice a nice reduction in temperature. It started lower, climbed slower, and dropped faster. There is also a fan assisted low mount Jagg oil cooler available as well if you find yourself spending time in hot conditions and slow moving traffic.

I checked out your stuff earlier and I like what you have. Definitely cheaper than Harley products and they look just as nice. Is it a gloss black and chrome as the two finishes for the 636v?

Darryl, quick question for ya, I was looking at your breather kits and was wondering if the DIY kit that requires drilling and tapping will work with the screamin eagle ventilator. It's way past time I make this change but I can't afford a whole new setup right now.

Thanks.

The 636v is available in either black or chrome/silver powder coat

I uploaded some images of the Jagg 750-2500 low mount oil cooler on my Wide Glide so you could see how it looks 'in real life' If you're curious, the oil filter is a permanent filter, you can see the specs on it HERE
