Anybody running crash bars with forward controls? I have an 08 FXD and haven't found anything that works yet. The brake pedal is usually the problem.
Thanks!!
yup, bars on my '01 SG and my sons '04 LR
Both have Kuryakyn peg setups, both use the same engine guard however, when I was repairing the LR from a drop, I learned that there are two styles of forward mounts and the later models use a different brake rod than the earlier ones. The new brake rod will work with the old style but the old style will not work with the newer mounts.
These engine guards are getting hard to find, but the ones for yours are readily available so there are some good deals out there.
I have the Harley Mustache bar on my 15 Fat Bob, took a little getting used to, because it does limit your foot movement a little, but nothing serious.
I have the black standard HD engine guard and factory forward controls on my Wide Glide and there are no issues with fitment. Only issue I have is that my feet are big and I had to learn where to put my foot to get it on the pedal and not the bar.
Sorry, misread your post, thought I read footboards. I had forwards on the bike at one time but didn't have the guard then.
No problem, thanks for the reply. I just walked out into the garage to see how far my my brake pedal extends beyond the frame and thought, "man your forwards don't extend very far.....then I read your second post!
