A bit over a week ago, I was staring out the window at the heavy snow coming down, and the thought hit me - what's stopping me? Why am I not riding? Do I not have warm clothing since I live in Frozelandia?
And all was good and I had a wonderful day in the frozen north, and I even got some good exercise, when it got deep enough at one spot I had to get off and push. Need some all season tires!

That's awesome. By "all season" you mean studs.
I just don't want to have to deal with the aftermath of all the salt they spread here...
Same here. I have only gotten one ride in so far in 2016. While I have not gotten the snow the East Coast has gotten, the weather has been bad enough to allow me only one 50 mile so far in 2016.

Naw, joking about the tires, though I do run dual purpose on my Ural sidecar rig.
Salt is usually horrible here, really gets put on heavy. We'd had a dry spell and melt, not much salt left on roads, and I thought with that much snow covering it, I wouldn't get much, if any. Bike looks pretty clean, no sign of salt scum. This has been the first January and February rides I've taken up here, unusual winter. I'd buy heated clothes and ride in 20 below if salt wasn't used here. Something kinda neat about being out there in weather that'll kill you quick if you're not geared up for it. Have a trike or sidecar rig, you can drift around corners, cut donuts, and just spin in circles on ice. Makes you feel like a kid again.
High of 7 today, wind blowing at 35+ mph; so double digit neg's. I always get freaking depressed this time of year up here, damn wind never stops. I'm a Georgia-boy living in the mountains of Virginia, I miss the Georgia heat! I go to the garage and look at the Dyna plugged into the trickle charger and wimper...
You guys are killing me, I haven't rode since Oct 30th. I won't even start to get mine out for short rides around the block for about another 6 weeks. Oh the joy of living in the north.
I'm with you too. I'm up in Albany (grew up in the Hudson Valley though). It's so cold out I can feel it all through the house and the house is pretty well insulated. A week and a half ago on a Sunday afternoon I got to go for a short ride. It had rained during the week and the temperature was up in the 40s. It was cold but it felt good to get out. It also made me miss it even more.
I agree with your P.S. I want to throw something in the face of the warm weather riders about some advantage we have over them but for the life of me I can't think of one.
how about it gets Africa hot down here for a minimum of 4 months every summer and periodically rains like a long legged cow pissing on a flat rock for days on end.
