And before you take delivery of your new Street Glide, make sure everything works on it. You probably didn't break it, it most likely came to you that way. Not all dealer service departments are equal and that goes for the set up guy, who's usually the low guy on the totem pole.

Sounds like a flat battery to me. The CANBUS bikes do weird electrical **** when the battery is drained.

I let mine get flat one time and it seemed to be randomly flashing lights at one point. A good overnight charge on the Optimate fixed that.

Also - as it's so cold, you should buy an Optimate (or similar smart maintenance charger) and just leave the bike connected to that when you aren't using it.

A little off topic but the bike should NOT have been delivered to the customer with 0.3 miles on it in the first place. Sounds like they didn't do the PDI correctly in the first place. There is a road test in the PDI checklist, so if they give you any problems throw that in their face. (I'm a Service Manager for the MoCo)

Dunno if this was mentioned already, but this happened to me.

One of the battery terminal screws may be loose. one of mine were, and all I did was tighten it, and everything was good to go.

Part of the reason for the thread, was to see if anyone had input on something related to moving the controls slightly, has the potential to cause these symptoms. I could see maybe the signal not working, and possibly even the no start, (BTW opposite side controls) but the check engine light, that one kinda stumped me.

And by no means busting my *****, I have thick skin, and came here for the input. I appreciate anyone who will give me any advice. I learned in my very first post (2 days ago) that I need to be prepared for the occasional lashing around here. It adds character
Oh, believe me ... you'll have plenty of character by the time you feel at home here. I know I did :>)

Exactly. Sounds to me like you pinched a wire monkeying with the bike.
If you work on electrical equipment all day why would you have trouble comprehending this?
I can already guess at the outcome here:
Dealer picks up bike, finds pinched wire and corrects problem, returns bike without commenting because they just delivered a new $15K bike. OP feels vindicated that it wasn't his fault and tells everyone who will listen that HD quality sucks.

Don't worry about the bike, the minor piddling little deal that is keeping it from starting will get worked out before the 2" of snow melts.
Worry about the wife who was giving you looks. . . that was her test to see if she now has a Real Harley Man in the house and not the whining Rice Rider. If it's not to late you you need to go into the house and put her on the kitchen table, countertop or back of the sofa and have at her . . fast furious, long and hard, use the dish towel when finished. She will be happy, no more low brow look, then head back to the garage and drink beer with the buddy.. you know the one who never should have been the 1st guy starting YOUR HARLEY to start with... Hopefully that isn't the only thing he's trying to start around there.

And of course we need photos.... no not of wifey on the table

Curious about the outcome. Also, when you removed the battery, did you notice if the terminals were tight? Also, a charger is a good thing to have in any home. Lastly, I agree with all on the battery being suspect. It may have been low to begin with, and a start, idle and shutdown is a drain that may have put you below the threashold. Maybe you had it "on" but not running a bit also, while fiddling with the lights, also draining the batt? Let us know what happens.

Another whiney dealer bashing post, always blame the dealer, that`s the cool thing to do on the forum.

Give the dealer a chance to make it right before you come here badmouthing the dealer and the brand.
