My Inner Primary Bearing went out at 8000 miles. Dealer replaced it no problem. With HD saying it was a problem up front, I think the problem should be theirs for life unless they can fix the problem. I had to wait almost 3 weeks for parts, so I purchased an extra set all the parts needed for the repair so they can parts next time while waiting for the warrenty parts to arive.

When that bearing begins to fail, from which side does the sound come? Something on the right side of my engine is squealing/squeaking/whistling (not sure how to describe it). Doesn't sound like grinding (yet), but it ain't right. When I pull in the clutch, it goes away. Could I be in the early stages of the dreaded primary bearing failure??? THANKS!

Mine went out last month at 6500 miles while on a road trip, barely made it home. You will hear the noise from the left side and it will get louder as it gets worse and begins to eat the race. Could hear it very loud below 35 mph or so, even over the exhaust. My dealer replaced the bearing and the race under warranty (2006 FXD), looked like about a $200 ticket with parts and labor.
