When they redesigned the primary bearing in 2005?, HD required that the bearing be replaced on their dime every 15k. The owner's were give a letter stating such. Then, after a year or so, they sent the owner's a letter saying the bearing did not require replacement and they would not be doing it.....Yeah, sounds like dirty pool....I have a copy of each of these letters for any naysayers.

That having been said, I looked up my VIN on the HD Service/Maintenance section of their website and it is still in there for my '06:
Rear primary bearing
Replace every 15,000 miles (24,000 kilometers)
See an authorized Harley-Davidson dealer

Recently had mine apart for forward controls at 5k and looks fine..
also received a letter from the moco. from what I saw i'm not to shook
about it..

I'm wondering if they have an updated bearing so you only need to replace it once more. That's what it sounds like.
