New from St. Lou, looking for a guide for tires on my wide glide
Hey y'all,
Name is Dan, from St. Louis, MO. Bought my first harley last year, a '13 wide glide. Moved up from a Suzuki Intruder Volusia 800 that I bought new in '01 when I was 19. After utting 34k miles on the Suzuki, it was time for an upgrade and this wide glide has since been the the bike I've always dreamed of. Unfortunately, at only 5000 miles, i've already about wasted all the tread on my stock tires, Michelin Scorcher 31's. Hoping someone else has some insight on a good replacement tire choice. My neighborhood service tech recommended I go with Dunlop American Elites, but seems they don't make on that fits my rear wheel; a 170/60-B17.
Thanks for any info. Looking forward to connecting and joining the community. Happy riding!
Dan

Reason: Meant to say rear tire in question is a 180/60 B17, not 170/60 B17
Stock sized 180/60B-17 on the rear and a 90/90-21 up front. The 90/90-21 will fit and fills the fender in better and you will notice the improved stability it gives over the stock sized 80/90-21.
Jake Wilson has the best prices on Night Dragons and Pirelli is currently running a $40 rebate on them; my '13 Wide Glide loves her Pirelli shoes, best tires you can get for our Wide Glides
Thanks all for the replies! Definitely going to check into those options!
One thing you could do is to check with the local metric dealers for your tire swaps. I buy my Pirelli ND's from Jake Wilson, remove the front and rear wheels and take them to the local Honda dealer with my new tires. They charge me $25 per wheel to remove and dispose of the old tire, mount and balance the new.
And just throwing this out there; I've done every thing possible when it came to bike lifts. HD adapters, modifying the lift pads, bits of wood; I finally broke down and ordered a J&S motorcycle lift. It's the only way to properly lift a Wide Glide and not have a pucker moment or two
