Choosing a tuner was no easy task for a guy like me that is/was new to the upgrade concept.

It took me a month of reading and research to make up my mind, and I decided trying to save money with the thing that's going to run my engine wasn't a good idea and finally figured service and support was going to be my best value.
You need to decide how far your going to get yourself into the upgrades in the future. If you plan on going further then Stage 1 being able to change up the tuner is a big deal.
There are 4-5 tuners that are talked about a lot here, and the Daytona twin isn't one of them,, just sayin.

Been using the daytona tuner for some time now. You do need to get the usb connector to use it fully as it allows you to upload dynojet maps into the unit. With this the twin tech is an excellent option as it lets you fully customise the tune using the same adjustment factor tables as dynojet but at a lower price. The software included is excellent...I ran around for a couple of days with my laptop trying different base maps from dynojet v and usb 3 units and making adjustments to perfect the tune.
The twin tech 2 also allows timing adjustment to allow for different cams etc.
Well made and easy to fit...

All im planning on doing for now is v&h short shots exhaust. Maybe a new air cleaner later down the road. Just to confirm we are talking about the daytona twin tech 2? And will it be a substantial enough programmer for exhaust and maybe air cleaner? Also does it plug right up or is ot one of the splice deals?
For just exhaust/air cleaner twin tech 1 is fine...tech 2 is pretty much the same but allows timing adjustment(really only necessary for major changes such as cams). Adjusting without the usb is easy too as the adjusters are split into logical rev and throttle bands instead of the "we're not telling you what it does" setup that v&h use.
You do need to open up a couple of connectors to fit but the terminals are all numbered and the wires already have the correct ends attached so no cutting and soldering needed. It's more a case of "disconnect terminal 3 wire from block and replace it with blue wire from unit" type of splicing...pretty simple stuff (only about 5 or 6 wires to do).
If you get the usb adapter then the adjustment can be tuned in smaller rev/throttle bands and the unit becomes similar to dynojet tuners (and you can use dynojet base maps as a starting point).You can even tune each cylinder individually.
I have exhaust and air cleaner changed on mine and it runs beautifully. About to change exhaust system again and had no difficulty finding a range of maps to try. Then it's just a case of riding and tweaking. Software also includes good monitoring program to record the results.

Cool. Thanks for the input. Im not trying to be cheap but not trying to over pay for unnecessary stuff. Hopefully the new v&h give me the sound im lookin for from stock on my 09 fatbob
I was thinking along similar lines when I bought mine, found a stock clearance one on ebay cheap and figured go for it.
Been more than happy with the results and future adjustability.
