Default Exhaust preference

I have a 2013 Fat Bob and I'm thinking about a stage 1 set up. What equipment do you prefer. Yes I know there are 900,000 variations but I'm curious to know what some of you have and the pros and cons. Thanks

Well, I purchased a V&H FP3 (which I started using with my stock setup). Sitting in my garage in the box is a Bassani Road Rage 2 into 1. In route to me is a Screamin' Eagle Ventilator A/C (Agitator cover). I went with the Bassani because I like the look. I met a forum member in person that had one and I loved the sound. I was concerned about idle and slow take offs that it would be too loud for early morning departures, but I was pleasantly surprised. It's tame but as it sits there idling, you know it's gonna let loose when you jump on it LOL.

DK Customs intake all the way. IMO the best thing out there. Do your engine a favor and don't make it breath dirty oil.

The exhaust would be kind of based off your personal opinion. 2 into 1 often times is better for performance but personally don't like the look.

Get yourself a tuner that will "grow" with you. One that you can put another map in if you add more parts down the road.

2-1 will generally outperform a 2-2 exhaust, but not everybody likes the way they look or sound. I'm really happy with my D&D Fatcat, very high quality, sounds awesome, and has a good reputation for performance. And I like the way it looks. There's tons of pictures on this forum, find an exhaust you like the look of and go from there.

You can't go wrong with a DK Customs air cleaner setup.

As far as tuner, I agree with what was already mentioned, spend a little more and get something that won't limit you in the future. If you're going to have it dyno tuned, talk to the guy who is going to do it and see what he prefers.

I like the s&s air cleaners (for function and well as looks) but also because I can reroute the excess oil from the breather bolts to anywhere OTHER THAN the intake.

DK customs sells something similar as do others.

Some exhaust manufacturers I like are Bassani and Bub (who were are now in business by someone else as BDI-inc.

For fuel management I like the power commander mainly because it does a great job, is simple to use and program with no frills, and you can usually get one dirt cheap off the forums here.

Good point. I forgot to add that I bought the DK Customs discreet breather system that works with the stock bolts.

RB racing 2-1 "Black Hole". Added a Hooker slip-on turnout and a Vortex cone; did very well on the dyno and sounds great. Quiet enough for hours of touring, too.
The air cleaner is a classic S&S Cycle in polished aluminum; easy to get new filters for. The tuner is a SEPST; I prefer HD stuff when I'm on the road far from home.

I would second the Bassani. I have one on my FXDB and it sounds wonderfully nasty!

I have RB Racing LSR 2-1 exaust. Highly recommend this pipe. Fits perfectly, runs great. May be a little too loud though.

Another vote for the Bassani Road Rage from me...awesome pipe!

I run that with an SS intake and Dobeck tuner, no complaints!
