Wide glide evo help
Managed to get out on the Harley for one day over the weekend which for the uk is not too bad lol.
Anyway after a little ride out probably 15 miles both ways parked the bike up in the shed and checked it over today.
I noticed that the rear cylinder exhaust port has leaked some oil out.
Now the bike has been sat for over a year and my pops reckons this is probably valve stem oil seals. The bike does smoke slightly ( white smoke ) when hot and idling.
Planning to get decompressors fitted soon anyway so oil deals not a problem.
Is she ok to ride still?
Planning to change oil and filters soon also as and please don't laugh
not been changed for 5 years. Not bee doin any mileage either. For those of you not seen my introductory post one inherited the bike from my dad. He's had it from new in 97 but now to I'll to ride. So I'm getting up together for myself

Thanks in advance

Darren
Please read and follow some of the threads on winterizing your bike.
It could be the valve seals or a bad ring.
Either way, for gods sake drain all the fluids and replace them!
It's a amazing it runs at all.
Thanks for the reply.
It's not actually as bad as what it sounded.
The engine was rebuilt less than 2000 miles ago and unfortunately it has only done a few hundred in the last 4 years. But it has been kept in a nice warm shed.
But I fully appreciate what you said about winterising the bike. And rest assured I will be replacing the oil, filter and plugs shortly

Engine seems to run very sweet. Not sure how you'd tell if ring had rust around it. Only way I guess is strip down.
Could you advise what plugs and oil is needed ?? Thanks
Harley all new to me
I should add, I did replace the battery, drain the fuel tank and empty the float bowl and clean and re oil the air filter
As far as the rest of your questions you're about to have you should try the Evo forum. Most of the dyna guys here have twin cams and the TCs are very different and you're going to have engine questions, so just a suggestion. The Evo guys are experts over there. Good luck.

Are the evo forums on here or is that a separate web forum?
Thanks again.
