I am going to install some West Coast SBOB bars on my 08 Street Bob. Due to the integrated triple tree, the the bolts do not freely drop in because of the angle of the bars to the bottom plate. I have heard of shaving a piece of the head of the bolt off to accommodate? Has anyone done this? Any tips to not ruin the bolts?
Pretty sure I encountered this problem when putting tbars on my 11 street bob.
From memory I took the heads of the bolts to a sanding wheel to decrease the overall diameter.
I encountered this problem a few years ago when I installed these on my Street Bob. You can get around this by having a buddy lend you a hand. After you've run the wires in the bars (but not reconnected), insert the front bolts into the bars so that they are seated. Then take the bars to your trees/integrated riser and have your buddy hold them about an inch above the integrated riser while you turn the front bolts into the front of the riser. As the bolt screws in, your buddy lowers the bars onto the riser.
Old thread I know.
Butt. What's up with the tapered part of the bar.
There's not enough bar after the taper and the throttle tube has to stick out past the bar.
