Default DS shock absorbers any good ?

Anyone know what model Progressive shocks these are ? Says in the description they are manufactured for DS by Progressive. Are they better than stock ? My stockers on my '06 Dyna suck and are showing signs of rust on the springs. Just use the bike for cruising and looking for a more comfy ride, and figure for the price these would be better than stock anyways. Thoughts ?

Most will say that anything is better than stock.

Those look like the Progressive 412 model. If they are re-branded 412s, the price is good... Looks like the 412s run a few dollars more.

At that price, I wouldn't expect a big upgrade. Reviews of the Progressive products are mixed. Just read a recent thread about a 1 year old set old chrome 444s all rusted up. Ride reviews are mixed as well.

Keep saving. Get something rebuildable and tunable. Ohlins, Works, etc.

I would agree....

If budget is the diving factor, have a look at Hagon shocks. Great reviews on the 2810s.

This guy will set you up.

Just spoke with Dave, and he basically said the issue with Harley's is that there is no travel. The only way to make it better is to go with a 13" or more shock, which I don't want to do cuz I think it looks goofy when the rear end is jacked up.

I've had my 444s for over 3 years. Stock length, not a bad ride.

That's what I wanted to do, but he said I wouldn't notice any difference over stock shocks and that I'd just be throwing money away as the travel is limited. I sort of agree with him, as I'm no stranger to suspension setups. I used to race motocross and have Ohlins on my Kawi ZRX1200. There's just nothing to work with when you only have 2 inches of travel.

This is true..They'd still be a better ride than the stock ones though I'm sure.

I was thinking about this on the way to work this morning.

What if you used lowering blocks in conjunction with longer shocks? You could maintain ride height and gain an inch of shock travel. The spring rate might have to go up a bit to compensate for the shock angle, but it might be an interesting workaround.
