hey all I know this has been beat to death but im looking at a tuner for my 2012 streeetbob im torn between the screamin eagle tuner, the moto tuner and the xied fuel management now which to me it seems more fools the comp then any real adjustments. Is it true that the screaming eagle tuner can only be used with screaming eagle performance parts? anyone install the xied system? how well does it work
depends on how far you want to mod your bike. If you do intake and exhaust only, the xieds are fine. If you plan on cams or major motor work you should go with a power vision. you can use the SE tuner with any parts, they dont need to be SE. I am running the v&h fpk3, i love it.

as of right now all i have done is a screaming eagle aircleaner. bike seems like it runs fine. I know harley claims you need stage 1 tune.
do I really? I still have 1 1/2 years on factory warranty. I can live with stock muffelers for now and do them and a non harley tuner after warranty expires.I really dont want to void warranty so quickly. bike only has 2k miles on it. ive read people getting away with aircleaner and drilled out baffles on stock muffelers without a tune. what does everyone think? if I really need a tune then i guess im forced to go with harley tuner.
The bike as it comes stock is tuned lean. Doing mods without retuning causes it to run even more lean, which causes more heat, which is not a good thing. IMO, based on what you have stated, just keep the bike all stock for now. When your warranty expires, do the air cleaner, exhaust, and whatever else your budget allows and get the TTS tuner and have it professionally dyno tuned. It will run great, cooler, and give you years of service. Do it once, and do it right.
Another very popular option is a power vision from fuel moto (no affiliation) around $400
This is still overkill for stage 1 but leaves options open for the future
Plus FM probably has a dyno map for your setup with free download.
