I lost focus in the heat of Rolling Thunder this past Sunday and left it down. When I took off I heard it scrape the ground and realized.....OPPS. It folded up.

My Suzuki DR650 (Dual-sport)has it and it's a pain in the *** IMO.

So a cutout wouldn't have been a good thing in that situation? It easily could have NOT just folded up....but leveraged you up instead

If this particular safety feature is so important to you, why not find a bike that has it?

I believe my dual sport has it but what's the point? You should have a routine you follow every time you get on the bike.

Do not want.

At what point did I say it was?

I simply asked a question about if the bike had one to make sure some thing wasn't broken on my brand new 20K bike....pointed out that my previous rides have had that feature....responded in kind to people that think they are clever....and asked the question when someone described the EXACT situation that feature is designed to prevent.

Never did I gush on about how it is the most important safety feature ever.

I did say using safety features isn't a bad idea.

A routine, yes. I would agree with you. But WHY wouldn't you want it?

because at some point you have to take responsibility for your actions and decide that if you can't remember to put your kickstand up before riding, you have no business being on a bike.

My son's 86 Yamaha has multiple interlocks, including one on the side stand. It was a bitch digging thru 30 year old wiring and schematics trying to diagnose the no-start. So many circuits interacting and terminating into black boxes. Kinda glad my Harley isn't quite so complicated. Easier to fix when it breaks.
