Crotch cooling
I guess the rumors about the FXDL-S are true. Was out for a few hours yesterday in mere high 80's heat and for the first time since I've owned a Harley, ETIMS kicked on several times. I have no problem with it, it's doing its job. Just blipped the throttle before taking off to get it back in normal mode.
Anyway, I did get a fair amount of heat esp on my right thigh at lights - was tooling around my old neighborhood in the North Bronx at one point, and of course, got stuck in a bit of stop and go. Got pretty damn hot down there, only when my right leg was down, usually I'm on the peg on the brake at lights, but I expect as it gets hotter out it'll get hotter.
I think I'm going to order a Captain Itch Crotch Cooler in anticipitation of hotter summer rides.

Ha!
I have one of the captain itch coolers. Works pretty well overall. But when the wards fans are blowing the hot air across the engine I still get pretty warm depending on foot placement. Would be worse without the cooler though

I got the Ward's fans, I was wondering about that. I have yet to install them

not to take anything away from captain itch or whatever, but you can make your own for about $5 in scrap leather. Do a search to see if there is a Tandy leather in your area. if not, ebay sells scraps. you want a 8-10mm thick leather. you can cut it with an exacto blade and mount it with the existing bolts under your seat.
i painted mine with spray paint, it's held up perfect for 6 years.

If you use oiled black latigo (latigo is always oiled by the way), no need for paint or dye... course you might get black on the inside of your jeans if you wear jeans while riding... but the latigo will hold up much better if you encounter wet weather.
