Default 2" over tubes on 2002 FXD

Hello!

I am a long time lurker and occasional poster, and ya'll have helped me so much with various projects so I figured I would reach out to the knowledge base here for some help. I tried searching and found some info, but no definite answers so here it goes! I recently purchased new fork tubes for my 2002 FXD. My old right side tube has some scratches and has been blown seals twice in the four years I have had the bike, so i figured new tubes will be great! Bought the kit to rebuild and some boots to keep these new tubes from getting beat up. Problem is new tubes seem to be 2" over. tubes i took off are 24.25" new ones are like 26 even. My question is, if I use these tubes what are the likely changes to handling/rake and trail/etc. I have progressive springs (supposedly) and am fairly happy with the ride and handling. I don't know if I can cut longer spacers and run these tubes or if it would be better to return them and get stock length? Let the knowledge flow!

Actually I am an idiot, and the new tubes are 2" SHORTER... I definitely don't feel like lowering anything so I guess back go the tubes!

I put 2" longer tubes on my '09 Super Glide, and if it changed the handling at all it wasn't enough for me to notice. To be fair, I did it over the winter so it was several months between riding it stock and modified. If you're really sensitive you might notice a difference. I just did it cause I thought it would look cool.

There's plenty of guys with lowered Dynas, so I know it can be done if you decided to go that route, but obviously you're going to give up some cornering clearance.
