Perhaps I can get some custom plates CNC'd for a decent price?
I am not a metal expert but here are my initial thoughts. Drilling two holes in the existing plates would be your cheapest and easiest solution. My thought is to drill two holes forward of the existing holes that are currently used to mount to the frame and use the new holes as the point to attach to the frame.

Walked out to the garage to look at mine and the possible issue I notice is, is there enough space between the two sets of holes. Look at my pic in post 3 above and you see that the actual mount for your pegs that attach to the plate take up a good amount of room. The plate is pretty damn beefy so my thought is if there is enough room to get the additional two holes in and still have room to mount it all up the strength should be OK. Its not like you are standing on forward controls as you could with mid mounts, basically it is just a foot rest with no real amount of pressure on it.

Another thing to consider is the effect on the chrome when you drill it, will it flake? The other thing to make note of is the length of adjustment in the brake and shift rod. Is there enough adjustment in there to allow moving everything back an inch or so

As you mentioned if there is enough adjustment in the brake and shift rod getting a new set of plates CNCed would be the ideal situation. I have no idea on what that would run you. Another thought is to cut two metal plates the rough shape of the existing plates and drill them out. On my bike as you see in post 3 above with my black frame and black mounts for the pegs I think the plates would look just as good painted black. Cutting new plates out of steel and painted black would be much less expensive I would think than to CNC a new set

Thanks, I was considering painting them black anyways since all of my mounts and primary are black already. I know there is enough play in the brake rod I need to play with the shift linkage to see but I think I could get an inch out of it. I appreciate the thoughts and pics you posted.
