Got off work and it was raining. I have rode in the rain many times before but this was a different morning. I left work and all was going well riding down the street about 20 or so and I see the car at a stop sign about 150 yards away so i am watching her there is a truck on my left and when I get about 20 feet from her she pulls out in front of me had to lock up the brakes to not hit her ended up laying the bike down to miss her car. Then the B#%&* just drives off!!!!! scratched up my primary cover and derby cover, messed up clutch mount, scratched windsheild, lost blinker lense scratchedhouseing up,scratched mirrorand thats all I can see right now. She looked right at me when she pulled out I was so mad now I have to replace the primary and derby cover clutch mount windsheild left front blinker my saddle bages saved the rear blinker it only has a small scratch on it. I am alright just a little sore and have some scratchedfingers but I have to say love my leather...lol
Dude, I am so sorry to hear about that! My friend almost lost it on the freeway when he was following too close. THe problem he had was that he was "stabbing" his brakes instead of squeezing to a hard pull! You situation sounds unavoidable! Your bike can heal, so it's good that you are ok! Good luck!
glad to hear you are well physically. mentally? well, have a few cold ones and be thankful it all can be fixed/replaced.
don't know if theres any recourse for you w/the cager. any eyewitnesses? this is a very sticky area regarding bikes and accidents. I recall a thread last week about a similar incident. it almost seems worth it to actually hit them as far as fault/responsibility is concerned. sounds stupid I know - theres got to be a legal/logical answer to such a dilema?
best of luck to you.
When I had my 2nd bike years ago i ahd that happen although it was not raining. The car ( a volvo) just drove off and I sat there on the pavement thinking WTF? I am always weary of Volvo's anyway, but sorry to hear that happened. At least you are okay and can fix yor bike. The majority of people in cars out there have no clue what it is like ot have that happen to them and never will. Once again, be grateful you are okay...
That sucks but like everyone said you are ok and the bike can be fixed (made bettter). Anubiss that is great you are always more cautious of the Volvos. Never really thought about that kind of stuff but got a good laugh when I read that.
