Default primary fluid amount

Quick question....does the '99 super glide take a full quart of primary fluid as my bagger would? Thanks.

Have you read your manual? That sounds like too much, but I could be wrong. I have a '97 and it takes 24oz........not a full quart. Call a dealer to be sure.

Manual says 320z. But when I changed mine and added 32oz. it shifted hard , so I dumped a couple oz out. Shifts better now but I am not impressed with the factory recmmended oil. (formula plus).

The ounces don't matter. The primary must be filled to the point that the fluid comes up to the outer diaphragm spring of the clutch, so it covers the chain below the clutch.
And by the way; the softail/dyna primary is longer than the touring bike/fxr primary, so the amounts needed are different.
