Set screw too long on chrome axle covers.
Set screw too long on chrome axle covers.
Bought a set of chrome axle covers from JP Cycles. The two set screws for each cover are really long and stick out once installed and look really ugly. Any ideas how to cut them down or get shorter ones ?

You could go to Home depot or Lowe's and get shorter ones in stainless maybe? I once heard a theory that the flush ones rust and then you cant get them out, so the longer ones give you something to grab onto with pliers just in case. I don't know.

Ace Hdwr stocks a good assortment of SS set screws
If you're cutting it - use a nut of similar thread count to chase after cutting
Chasing w/ a die will always work also
