I have a 08 fxdb with stock headlamp. Looking at a daymaker but unsure if it is the best option for visibility. I live in the country and the brighter the better imo.
I have a version of the Eagle light that I got from Ebay for about half the cost. The light is super bright, and works way better than stock. Someone on the forum said that the Ebay versions are knockoffs of the Eagle Lights, but I honestly can't tell. The one I have is very nice quality, and truly was plug & play on my 15 DB.
You could also go with the HD branded light, but I think you can do better for that kind of money.
Let us know what you get, these threads don't seem to get old.

Advice welcome!
fwiw - I upgraded to the daymaker (wanted to stick w/ harley part)
Maybe first replace the bulb with a decent LED. Lots of stories on here how that increased visibility a huge amount. A good LED bulb costs about $40 to $60 and its an easy plug n play install although I bought a cheapo LED bulb for $14 and its a massive improvement over the stock bulb. If that dosent do it for you splurge on the complete headlight instead.
I've tried a couple different LED headlights and have personally ridden a bike with the genuine HD branded daymaker (actually made by JW Speaker). My honest opinion, order something like the following:
You'll probably be quite pleased with the quality and the light output over the stock halogen. Also, most of the knock-offs you see on eBay, Amazon, and well known retailers are most likely made at the same factory and/or use the same chip-set anyway.

Exactly what I have there. Comes in the same black box, and packaging as all the other sub $200 "Gen II / III" LED lights. The build quality seems excellent for the price.
How do the polycarbonate lens hold up compared to the glass ones? Are these the same quality as automotive headlights and if so do you think that if they get scratched/damaged enough you can buff the lens?
To be honest, for $180-ish compared to $500+ I am more inclined to purchase the cheaper one because I have no idea how long I'll hold on to this bike, may be 2 years, may be 10, depending how much loving she shows me LOL
Any opinions between moonmaker and eagle lights? Anyone ever have/ride with both?
