HI all, I've had my Low-rider S for 4 months, and yes the exhaust has got a little louder, after 4750 miles, but I am considering some replacement slip ons.
The only ones that catch my eye are the ones by Kromework, but not sure what they sound like.
Any suggestions, and I don't want anything to loud, like the V & H shortshots for instance.
Cheers in advance
V&H Short Shots are completely new pipes, they're not slip ons. the only Low Rider slip-on they have won't work for the S; the regular Low Rider has much the same exhaust system as the Switchback, while the Low Rider S has a different set up which looks similar to the ones on the Wide Glide and Fat Bob.
V&H makes "twin slash" slip ons for the Fat Bob in black, you might want to get in touch with them to make sure they'll fit the Low Rider S. I have the Twin Slash on my Switchback and I like the sound. gives me good rumble but I can keep it in check when going through my neighborhood.
It depends on how loud you want them. If you want them just a little louder than stock then the HD street performance slip's that are 'Street legal' meaning they are a bit louder than stock will satisfy you.
Anything else you go with are going to have some sound or not street legal. The one thing you should consider if you do pick a slip that's got some resonance (for example: the VH straightshots I just put on my new FXDB), as long as the length is not too short, most of the irritating sound will be behind you instead of under your right ear or if you wear a helmet making a huge echo inside your helmet (ouchh). The slip's I picked dump behind my right ear taking away a good portion of the high db's throwing it back to the poor bastages riding behind me LOL.
So, the short shots 'dump' just below the right ear so their going to irritate the shiza out of you especially if you wear a helmet.
Anything you pick needs to adhere to this simple premise; the louder the db's the further back the pipe needs to expel sound. Unless, of course you like having your eardrums shattered in which case have it dump at the foot peg. Update after running these for 100 miles:
They fired up kinda loud, but by the end of the 100 miles they settled in real nice. Oh and there was very little to no popping between shifts and during engine breaking on a stock bike with oem breather assembly.
I put Rush slip-ons on my wide glide, there's a selection of baffles ( I have the loudest but quieter than short shots ). They were a good fit, good quality, definitely worth a look.
Went with Rush slip-ons w/ 1.75 baffle. Good stuff from good folks. They're loud but manageable with a little throttle discretion. Problem is at highway speeds the noise from the forward pipe gets on your nerves pretty quick, even with ear plugs. More like a metallic clattery sound than exhaust rumble. I'm considering going to a longer 2-1 or a set of duals.

The Twin Slash slip-ons from V&H do fit the Low Rider S (part #46845). I just installed them on mine. They give the bike the Harley sound, but not too loud, IMO. A tiny modification is needed on the supplied mounting bracket, have to drill a hole bigger. But other than that they are just a direct swap. Hardest part about install was getting the stock mufflers off. They are about 3-4 inches shorter than stock.

Hi
The stock bolt also seems to short to go through both the stock HD and the V&H brackets did you just install it through the top part of the V&H bracket only?
